HFE Mission

Our mission at Hunger Free Education is simple yet vital: to ensure no child drops out of school because of hunger. We provide children with the essentials they need — nutritious meals, school supplies, mattresses, and basic healthcare — so they can stay in school, learn, and build a brighter future.



Who We Serve

Hunger Free Education supports vulnerable primary school children in Rwanda’s Nine Year Basic Education (NYBE) program, focusing on students aged 6–12 and their families.

We work in both the capital city of Kigali and in the Bugesera District of the Eastern Province, reaching children from 12 primary schools across communities including Rwampara, Biryogo, Rwintare, Butamwa, Mwendo, Busanza, and Rilima.

Our efforts ensure that the most at-risk children and their families in Nyarugenge, Gasabo, Kicukiro, and Bugesera have the chance to stay in school and thrive.

How to Help

Today, Hunger Free Education supports more than 25 families — each with an average of four children — giving them the tools and encouragement they need to stay in school.

We make it simple for anyone who wants to get involved. You can support us securely online, through email, or by connecting with the children in person. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.

Beyond meeting basic needs, we also guide families through financial planning, provide mentorship, and track each child’s progress to ensure they are thriving academically and personally.
